...When the area between two or more natural levee-like protrusions is filled in and becomes land, the coastline becomes an arc with a series of river mouths. This type of delta is called an arc-shaped delta, and typical examples are the Nile River delta and the Niger River delta. In Japan, examples of arc-shaped deltas include the Tama River and the Obitsu River that flow into Tokyo Bay, and the delta of the Iwaki River (Aomori Prefecture) before it was reclaimed.
