[What kind of disease is it?]
It is a very itchy eczema that is round and coin-shaped. It may have red bumps or ooze. It is most common on the shins, but it can also appear around the knees, on the back of the hands, and on the trunk.
In the elderly, it is more common in the winter when the skin becomes dry and itchy, and in children it often occurs while scratching insect bites.
Even if the condition improves, the severe itching often returns soon after and is difficult to cure. In addition, if you have this condition for a long period of time, it is likely to develop into autosensitization dermatitis ("autosensitization dermatitis") all over your body, so it is important to seek treatment at a dermatologist as soon as possible.
[Treatment]
Adrenal cortex hormone (steroid) medication is applied topically, and antihistamines and antiallergic drugs are taken orally. When bacterial infection occurs and the affected area smells a little, antibiotics are applied topically and taken orally in combination.
Keep the affected area clean and, after applying ointment, protect it with gauze. Protecting the area not only increases the effectiveness of the ointment, but also helps prevent injury to the area from scratching and bacterial infection.

[どんな病気か]
　貨幣（コイン）状の円形をした、とてもかゆい湿疹です。赤いぶつぶつがあったり、ジュクジュクしていることもあります。とくに足の脛（すね）にできることが多いのですが、膝（ひざ）の周囲、手背（しゅはい）、体幹（たいかん）（胴体）にできることもあります。
　高齢者では、肌が乾燥してかゆくなる冬場に多く、小児では虫刺されをひっかいているうちにできることもよくあります。
　いったんよくなっても、すぐに強いかゆみがぶりかえし、治りにくくなることが多い皮膚病です。また、長い期間この病気でいると、全身の自家感作性皮膚炎（じかかんさせいひふえん）（「自家感作性皮膚炎」）に発展しやすいので、早めに皮膚科で治療を受けましょう。
[治療]
　副腎皮質（ふくじんひしつ）ホルモン（ステロイド）薬の外用、抗ヒスタミン薬や抗アレルギー薬を内服します。細菌感染がおこって患部が少しにおうときには、抗生物質の外用と内服を併用します。
　患部は清潔に保ち、軟膏（なんこう）を塗った後、ガーゼで保護するようにしましょう。保護することによって、軟膏の効果が増すばかりでなく、ひっかいて局所を傷つけたり、細菌感染がおこるのを防止することができるからです。
