El Mundo

…Founded in Havana in 1965. After F. Castro took over power in 1960, he took over the two major Havana newspapers, El Mundo (founded in 1901) and Prensa Libre (founded in 1941), and used them as revolutionary newspapers. On April 5, 1969, he merged El Mundo with Granma, and this newspaper remains the face of revolutionary Cuba and the Castro regime to this day. It is published in Spanish, but also has weekly English and French editions. …
