Peroxybenzoic acid. C ₇ H ₆ O ₃ (138.12). C ₆ H ₅ COOOH. It can be obtained by decomposing benzoyl peroxide with sodium methoxide at 0°C, or by oxidizing benzoic anhydride with hydrogen peroxide. Colorless crystals. Melting point 41-43°C, boiling point 97-110°C (1.7-2.0 kPa). Soluble in organic solvents such as ether and chloroform. It is a strong oxidizing agent and easily epoxidizes bonds, so it is used in synthetic reactions and double bond quantification. [CAS 93-59-4]

peroxybenzoic acid．C₇H₆O₃(138.12)．C₆H₅COOOH．過酸化ベンゾイルを0 ℃ でナトリウムメトキシドで分解させるか，無水安息香酸を過酸化水素で酸化すると得られる．無色の結晶．融点41～43 ℃，沸点97～110 ℃(1.7～2.0 kPa)．エーテル，クロロホルムなどの有機溶剤に可溶．強い酸化剤で，結合を容易にエポキシ化するので，合成反応や二重結合の定量に使われる．[CAS 93-59-4]
