Siberian Shark - Siberian Shark

A general term for the genus of the family Notorynchus in the order Sclera, or the name of one of its species. Only one species, N. cepedianus (English name: broadnose sevengill shark), is known in the genus Notorynchus. The broadnose sevengill shark has one dorsal fin and seven pairs of gill slits, and has the same characteristics as the broadnose sevengill shark, which belongs to the same family, but the broadnose sevengill shark can be distinguished by its rounded snout and the spotted pattern on its side (the broadnose sevengill shark has a pointed snout and is uniform in body color). They reproduce viviparously and give birth to up to 100 young. They grow to about 3 meters in length. They live in relatively shallow waters, with young fish tending to live in shallow waters and adults living in deeper waters. They are found in tropical zones all over the world, except for a few areas such as the North Atlantic. As of September 2021, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List lists it as "vulnerable" (VU), a threatened species.

軟骨魚綱カグラザメ目カグラザメ科の属の総称、またはその1種の名称。エビスザメ属NotorynchusにはエビスザメN. cepedianus（英名broadnose sevengill shark）1種のみが知られている。エビスザメは背びれが1基で、鰓孔(さいこう)が7対(つい)あり、同科に属するエドアブラザメと同じ特徴をもつが、エビスザメは吻(ふん)が丸いこと、体側にぶち模様があることで区別できる（エドアブラザメは吻がとがり、体色は一様）。生殖方法は胎生で最大で100尾ほどの子を産む。全長3メートルほどになる。比較的浅海にすみ、若魚は浅い所に、成魚はより深い所に生息する傾向がある。北大西洋などごく一部の海域を除き全世界の温熱帯域に分布する。国際自然保護連合（IUCN）のレッド・リストでは、絶滅危惧(きぐ)種中の「危急」（VU）に指定されている（2021年9月時点）。
