〘 noun 〙 A type of banishment punishment by the Edo Shogunate. The criminal was banished to Shinagawa, Itabashi, Senju, Yotsuya Okido, Honjo, and Fukagawa. If the criminal was from outside Edo, he was not allowed to enter his own village or town, and depending on the type of crime, his fields, house, and belongings could be confiscated. → Banishment within 10 ri of Edo. 〘名〙 江戸幕府の追放刑の一種。罪人を品川、板橋、千住、四谷大木戸および本所、深川の外へ追い払うこと。罪人が江戸以外の者の場合は、自分の村や町にも立ち入ることができず、また、罪の種類により、田畑、家屋敷、家財を没収されることがあった。→江戸十里四方追放。〔禁令考‐後集・第四・巻三三・寛保元年（1741）六月〕
