Exile from Edo - Edojuri Shiho Tsuiho
〘 noun 〙 A type of banishment punishment in the Edo period. The criminal was banished to a place within a radius of five ri from Nihonbashi in Edo. If the criminal was not a resident of Edo, he was prohibited from entering his own village or town.
