Cabanatuan (English spelling)
A city in the province of Nueva Ecija in central Luzon, Philippines. It is the former capital of the province. It overlooks the left bank of the Pampanga River. It is the commercial center of the eastern part of the central Luzon plain, a grain-producing region, and a major distribution center for rice. It is a junction of roads leading from Manila to various parts of northern Luzon, and is also connected to Manila by rail. Population: 173,000 (estimated 1990).
