Japanese: エダナナフシ - えだななふし

An insect belonging to the order Phasmodium and family Phasmidae of the class Insecta. It is a wingless stick insect with long antennae, and comes in various body colors such as green, yellow-green, and brown, all of which look similar to tree branches, hence the name. It is 7 to 10 centimeters long. It is found in Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu, and usually lives in the mountains and fields.

昆虫綱ナナフシ目ナナフシ科に属する昆虫。触角の長い、はねをもたないナナフシで、体色に緑、黄緑、褐色などの型があり、いずれも木の枝と紛らわしくみえるのでこの名がある。体長7～10センチメートル。本州、四国、九州に分布し山野に普通にすむ。
