〘Noun〙 A title of a position in the Edo Shogunate. One of the Magistrates of Distant Provinces (Ongoku Bugyo) who was in charge of matters in Ezo. Established in 1802 , it was soon renamed Hakodate Magistrate and then Matsumae Magistrate.
