Tobu Jitsuroku

Japanese: 東武実録 - とうぶじつろく

This is a record of the deeds of the second shogun, Tokugawa Hidetada, compiled by the Edo shogunate. It has 40 volumes. Matsudaira Tadafuyu, a shogunate official, received orders from the shogunate in 1683 (Tenwa 3) and completed it the following year (Jokyo 1). It follows on from the record of Tokugawa Ieyasu's deeds, Butoku Taisei-ki, which was compiled around the same time, and records in chronological order the period from January 1616 (Genwa 2), the year of Ieyasu's death, to December 1617 (Kan'ei 9), the year of Hidetada's death. The descriptions are brief, but the original text of shogunate laws and regulations is included. 江戸幕府官撰による2代将軍徳川秀忠の事跡録。40巻。幕臣の松平忠冬が1683年(天和3)幕府の命を受け，翌84年(貞享1)に完成した。同じ時期に成立した徳川家康の事跡録《武徳大成記》の後を受け，家康没年の1616年(元和2)正月から秀忠没年の32年(寛永9)12月までを編年体で記す。記述は簡略であるが，幕府法令等は原文を収載している。影印版は《内閣文庫所蔵史籍叢刊》所収。【宮崎勝美】
