...His successors found ideological agreement with Judaism in the philosophy of German idealism. For example, Solomon Formstecher (1808-89) followed Schelling, Moritz Lazarus (1824-1903) and H. Cohen followed Kant, and Abraham Geiger (1810-74) and Samuel Hirsch (1815-89) took a position closer to Hegel. In modern times, Franz Rosenzweig (1886-1929) and Buber are among those who tried to develop an original philosophy by returning to the Jewish spirit itself.
