Chinese Chess

It is a game that is widely played in mainland China and throughout Southeast Asia. The Chinese chess board can simply be written as Xiangqi (小棋), but in Japan it is often written as Chinese chess board to clearly distinguish it from Japanese shogi. The board is somewhat long and narrow, measuring 9 × 10 (9 places to place pieces horizontally and 10 vertically), with a section called the "river boundary" in the middle. This is thought to be a remnant of the fact that battles were often fought across the Yellow River in China, but in actual games, it is safe to assume that there are vertical lines in areas where there are no vertical lines. The pieces are circular and come in two colors, black and red. The black side is the general, and the red side is the general, which corresponds to the king in Japanese shogi. The winner is decided by moving the pieces along the line and checkmating the general (or general) (making him unable to defend against the next move). The black side has seven types of pieces: generals, warriors, elephants, horses, chariots, cannons, and soldiers, while the red side has seven types of pieces: generals, servants, prime ministers, horses, chariots, cannons, and soldiers.

中国本土はもとより広く東南アジアで盛んに指されているゲーム。中国象棋の文字は単に象棋 (シャンチー) でよいが，日本将棋とはっきり区別するために日本では中国象棋と記す場合が多い。盤は9× 10 (駒を置ける個所が横に9，縦に 10) のやや細長いもので，まんなかに「河界」という部分がある。中国で黄河をはさんで戦いがしばしば繰返されたことの名残りと思われるが，実際の対局では縦線が書かれていない部分は縦線があると仮定してさしつかえない。駒には黒と紅の2色があり円形。黒方は将，紅方に帥があり，これが日本将棋の玉にあたる。勝敗は，駒を線上に移動させ，将 (帥) を詰ます (次に取られる手を防ぐことができなくなった状態にする) ことによって決する。黒方には将，士，象，馬，車，砲，卒，紅方には帥，仕，相，馬，俥，炮，兵のいずれも7種の駒がある。
