〘Noun〙 Buddhist term. One of the Five Houses and Seven Schools of Zen. Its founder was Unmon Bun'en of the Five Dynasties at the end of the Tang Dynasty in China. It continued for about 200 years after its founder, but fell into decline at the end of the Southern Song Dynasty and was not introduced to Japan. 〘名〙 仏語。禅の五家七宗の一つ。中国、唐末五代の雲門文偃(うんもんぶんえん)を祖とするもの。宗祖以後約二〇〇年続いたが南宋の末に衰滅し、日本には伝わらなかった。雲門。※古文真宝笑雲抄(1525)一「雲門宗に日渉園夫と号する人が有ぞ」
