The power of exercise

...Descartes' force is a secondary concept that appears when an object moves. He defined it as the product of the object's speed and size, and called it the force of motion vis motus. Leibniz criticized Descartes by calling it vis viva, defining it as the product of mass and the square of speed (Wiss-Wiwa controversy).
