Hoe - Hoe

Japanese:
Hoe - Hoe
A manual farm tool with a sharp blade attached to the handle, which is held in the hand and used by striking the blade firmly or lightly against the ground. Along with the plough and digging stick, it is a typical farm tool, and hoes are the main farming tool in areas where hoes are cultivated, located in the tropics, roughly corresponding to the distribution ranges of bananas and taro, but in Melanesia and Polynesia, hoes coexist with digging sticks, and in South and Southeast Asia, hoes coexist with ploughs. They are also widely used as auxiliary tools in temperate plough-cultivating areas. In North and South America before the Age of Discovery, there were no ploughs, and hoe farming spread to the temperate zone, coexisting with digging sticks in the tropics.
