Kawachi
Located in the central-northern part of Hakusan City in the southern part of Ishikawa Prefecture, this former village area is located at the foot of Mt. Hakusan, part of the midstream basin of the Tedori River and the basin of the Nomidani River, a tributary of the Nomidani River. It was incorporated as a village in 1889. In 2005, it merged with Matto City, Mikawa Town, Tsurugi Town, Yoshinotani Village, Torigoe Village, Oguchi Village, and Shiramine Village to form Hakusan City. The name comes from the name of a manor that has existed since the Middle Ages. Most of the area is mountainous and hilly, with settlements along the Tedori River and the Nomidani River. Agriculture is designated as a rice seed production area, and industry is quarrying. Although depopulation was a serious problem, resort development, centered on ski resorts and health facilities, has been promoted along with residential land development. The area around Fudo Falls on the Itao River, a tributary of the Nomidani River, has been designated as Shishiku-Tedori Prefectural Natural Park, along with Shishiku Highland and Tedori Gorge.

Kawachi

This is a former town area in the eastern part of Higashihiroshima City, in the central-southern part of Hiroshima Prefecture. It is located in the midstream of the Numata River. It was incorporated as a town in 1924. It merged with parts of Tono Village and Toyoda Village in 1955. Irino Village was incorporated in 1956. It was incorporated into Higashihiroshima City in 2005. Rice farming accounts for most of the agricultural production, but most of the farmers have part-time jobs. In recent years, the area has been developing into residential areas. In 1968, the Mukunashi Dam was completed on the Mukunashi River, a tributary of the Numata River, and it supplies water to Mihara City and Onomichi City. The area centered on Chikurinji Temple and Mt. Yokurayama is a scenic spot, and is part of the Chikurinji-Yokurayama Prefectural Natural Park.

Kawachi

This is a former town area in the northeast of Utsunomiya City, in central Tochigi Prefecture. It is located in the northern part of the Shimotsuke Plain. In 1955, Furusato Village and Tahara Village were merged to form Kawachi Village, which was incorporated as a town in 1966. It was incorporated into Utsunomiya City in 2007. Shirasawa-shuku once flourished along the Oshu Kaido road. In addition to agriculture, paper manufacturing, food products, and general machinery manufacturing are thriving. There are many part-time farmers. It is home to the Okamoto family home (a nationally designated important cultural property) who were village headmen and headmen of a group during the Edo period.

Kawachi

Located in the Kinpu Mountains in central Kumamoto Prefecture, this area overlooks the Ariake Sea. Former town name. Incorporated into Kumamoto City in 1991. Cultivation of mandarin oranges is thriving on the slopes of the mountains. On the coast is Kawachi Onsen, a simple spring (weakly saline spring), and on Mt. Kinpu there is a teahouse at the pass that is associated with Natsume Soseki's novel "Kusa Makura." The surrounding area belongs to Mt. Kinpu Prefectural Natural Park. Area 33.95 km2 .

石川県南部,白山市中北部にあり,白山の麓,手取川中流域の一部と支流直海谷川(のみだにがわ)の流域に位置する旧村域。1889年村制。2005年松任市,美川町,鶴来町,吉野谷村,鳥越村,尾口村,白峰村と合体して白山市となった。名称は中世以来の荘名に由来する。地域の大部分が山地,丘陵で,手取川沿いと直海谷川沿いに集落がある。農業はイネの種子生産地に指定され,工業は採石業が行なわれている。過疎問題が深刻であったが,スキー場,保養施設を中心とするリゾート開発とともに宅地造成が推進された。直海谷川支流板尾川の不動滝一帯は,獅子吼高原,手取峡谷とともに獅子吼・手取県立自然公園に指定。

河内
こうち

広島県中南部,東広島市東部の旧町域。沼田川中流域にある。 1924年町制。 1955年戸野村および豊田村の一部と合体。 1956年入野村を編入。 2005年東広島市に編入。米作が農業生産のほとんどを占めるが,兼業農家が主体。近年,宅地化が進んでいる。 1968年沼田川の支流椋梨川に椋梨ダムが完成し,三原市や尾道市へ給水されている。竹林寺と用倉山を中心とする一帯は景勝地で,竹林寺用倉山県立自然公園に属する。

河内
かわち

栃木県中部,宇都宮市北東部の旧町域。下野平野の北部にある。 1955年古里村,田原村が合体して河内村となり,1966年町制。 2007年宇都宮市に編入。かつて奥州街道沿いに白沢宿が栄えた。農業のほか,製紙,食品,一般機械工業が盛ん。兼業農家が多い。江戸時代の庄屋格組頭であった岡本家住宅 (国指定重要文化財) がある。

河内
かわち

熊本県中部,金峰山地にあり,有明海にのぞむ地区。旧町名。 1991年熊本市に編入。山地の斜面ではミカンの栽培が盛ん。海岸部に単純泉 (弱食塩泉) の河内温泉が,金峰山には夏目漱石の小説『草枕』ゆかりの峠の茶屋がある。付近は金峰山県立自然公園に属する。面積 33.95km2
