Uppsala School

Japanese: ウプサラ学派 - ウプサラがくは（英語表記）Uppsala school

Also known as the Scandinavian School. It took a critical stance against the textual critical study method of the Bible, and believed that the essence of religion lies in the drama of ritual. As such, it achieved notable results by focusing mainly on the kings and ritual prophets as the basis of Israelite ritual, but has not achieved much in the field of New Testament research. Strictly speaking, it is not a school of thought, but rather a research trend that adopts a ritual history method, and its members include S. Mobbinkel, J. Pedersen, A. Bentsen, I. Engnell, and A. Halder.

スカンジナビア学派ともいう。聖書の文献批判的研究方法に対して批判的立場を取り，宗教の本質は祭儀のドラマにあるとした。したがって，イスラエルの祭儀の基礎としての王と祭儀預言者を研究の主たる対象として顕著な成果をあげたが，新約聖書研究ではさしたる成果はない。厳密な意味では学派というより祭儀史的方法をとる研究傾向の一つで，S.モビンケル，J.ペーダーセン，A.ベンツェン，I.エングネル，A.ハルダーらが属している。
