…His main work is the Brahmasūtrabhāṣya (Commentary on the Brahma-sūtra). He also wrote commentaries on the important Upanishads such as the Brīhadārānyaka Upanishad, a commentary on the Bhagavad-gītā, and an independent work, the Upadeśasāhasrī. The Vedanta tradition was deeply influenced by Buddhism and had become Buddhist before Shankara was active.
