《Wei Liaozi》 - Utsuryoushi

...The seven books that have been established over the course of history are known as the Seven Books of Military Classics or simply the Seven Books, which were first distributed during the Yuanfeng period (1078-85) of the Song dynasty for the purpose of educating military officers. In addition to the Sun Tzu and the Wu Tzu, the collection includes the Sima Fa, which is said to convey the military tactics of Sima Rong Ju, a general of the Qi state at the end of the Spring and Autumn period, the Wei Liaozi, which is said to have been written by Wei Liao, who was invited by the King of Wei during the Warring States period, the Six Tao, which is said to have been written by Lu Shang, the founder of the Zhou dynasty, Taigong Wang, and the Three Lue, which is said to have been conveyed by Huang Shi Gong, as well as the Li Weigong Wendai, a later compilation of military discussions by Li Jing of the Tang dynasty for Emperor Taizong. The Sima Fa deals mainly with military administration, the Wei Liaozi discusses strict rewards and punishments, including actual combat, and the Liu Tao is the most content-rich and covers combat techniques. These three books convey the image of the Warring States period, but the San Lueh seems to be a reference to the end of the Eastern Han dynasty.

…　そして，その後の歴史を経て定着したものは《武経七書》あるいは単に《七書》とよばれるもので，宋の元豊年間(1078‐85)に，武官の教育のために頒布されたのが始まりである。《孫子》《呉子》のほかに，春秋末期の斉の将軍司馬穣苴（じようしよ）の兵法を伝えるという《司馬法》，戦国時代の魏王に招かれた尉繚（うつりよう）の著書という《尉繚子》，周王朝の創業者太公望呂尚（ろしよう）の著と伝えられる《六韜》，黄石公が伝えたという《三略》の4書と，唐の李靖（りせい）が太宗のために兵を論じたものを後人が編集した《李衛公問対》を合わせたものである。《司馬法》は軍政を主とし，《尉繚子》は実戦をも合わせて賞罰の厳正をいい，《六韜》は最も内容豊富で戦闘技術に及び，この3書は戦国時代のおもかげを伝えているが，《三略》は後漢末の仮託であるらしい。…
