[Middle Paleolithic Period]
In East Asia, the Middle Paleolithic culture has not been clearly recognized as in Europe. In Siberia, stone tools similar to the Mousterian culture have been found in Ust-Kan Cave at the foot of the Altai Mountains and Dovgulask in the Yenisei River basin, but their numbers are still small. In China, the Dingcun site in Shanxi Province is thought to be an archaeological site dating from 80,000 to 30,000 years ago, but this has not yet been confirmed.
