On November 24th, the day the House of Representatives passed a bill to indict the Hollywood Ten for contempt of Congress, 50 representatives from the Motion Picture Producers Guild of America and the Guild of Independent Film Producers met at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York and issued the Waldorf Manifesto, a resolution to expel Communists and their sympathizers. The excuse for this policy was added: "There is a danger of injury to innocent people."
