Printing Bureau - Insatsukiyoku
〘Noun〙 Abbreviation of the independent administrative institution "National Printing Bureau". Until 2003 , it was an attached institution of the Ministry of Finance (formerly the Ministry of Finance). It handles everything from paper making to printing of printed materials ordered by the national and prefectural governments, such as Bank of Japan notes, postage stamps, and official gazettes. From 1898 ( Meiji 31 ) to 1943 ( Showa 18 ), it belonged to the Cabinet. From 1949 to 1952, it was called the Printing Bureau.

〘名〙 独立行政法人「国立印刷局」の略。平成一五年(二〇〇三)までは財務省(もとは大蔵省)の付属機関。日本銀行券や郵便切手、官報など、国や都道府県から受注した印刷物の製紙から印刷までを行なう。明治三一年(一八九八)から昭和一八年(一九四三)までは内閣に所属。昭和二四年から二七年までは印刷庁。
