...A scholar of Japanese classics and a poet of the late Edo and Meiji periods. A native of Inaba. Commonly known as Shichiro and Sekizono. He studied under Motoori Ohira along with his father, Iida Hideo, and after his death studied under Kano Morohira and Tomo Nobutomo. He excelled in poetry, and together with Morohira and Ishikawa Yorihira, he was known as the poet Sanpei. He also excelled in writing in the norito style. He was appointed to the Japanese classics department of the Tottori domain, and was involved in compiling the Hoki-shi. After the Meiji Restoration, he served the Imperial Court as a choshi (a shoushi), and also held positions such as Shinto Record.
