...In a computer, the device that takes in information from the outside is called an input device, and the device that takes out information to the outside is called an output device; these are collectively called input/output devices. Input/output devices are devices that convert between the information inside the computer and information such as characters and images that humans can read. In a broad sense, devices that connect computers to computer networks and various other devices are also a type of input/output device.
