[Died] July 10, 1891. Valdemoro Spanish writer. His representative work is the short story El sombrero de tres picos (1874) (The Three-Cornered Hat), which is based on a folk song and depicts the love affair between an Andalusian peasant and a magistrate, and was later made into an opera by Faria (1919). His other works include the novel El escándalo (The Scandal) (1875), El niño de la bola (The Brave) (80), and Diario de un testigo de la guerra de África (African War Diary) (59), a record of his participation in the Moroccan War.
