…This is a collection of laws and regulations from the Mughal Empire during the reign of Akbar. It was originally compiled as the third volume of the Akbar-Namah (The Life of Akbar). It was compiled and written by the same Abu'l Fazl who compiled the Akbar-Namah, but the contents cover a wide range of subjects, including the court ceremonies of the Akbar era, the bureaucratic system of the Mughal central government, military affairs, and taxation.

…He was born as the son of Sheikh Mubarak, who came from a family of scholars. He served Akbar along with his father and brother, and played an active role as an ideologue supporting Akbar's rule. He wrote the historical work Akbar Nama (The Life of Akbar), the style of which became the basic form of the biographies of later Mughal emperors. He was hated by Prince Salim (later Emperor Jahangir), and was assassinated on his way back from the Deccan campaign. …
