Born in Taiwan on August 16, 1944. Younger brother of Shu Iwasaki. Studied at the Juilliard School of Music in the US, and made his debut at the age of 21 performing with his sister at Carnegie Hall. In 1970, he won third place at the International Tchaikovsky Competition. In 1971, he formed the chamber music group Tokyo Chamber Soloists.
