Multifilament yarn

Japanese: マルチ糸 - マルチいと（英語表記）multifilament yarn

This refers to rayon yarns and other yarns that have a large number of filaments (single fibers) that make up the yarn. For example, in the case of rayon yarn, a 120 denier yarn usually has about 30 filaments, but a multi-filament yarn has 50 to 60 filaments. Compared to yarns of the same diameter and material, the filament fineness is smaller and there are more of them, so it is softer and has a gentler luster.

レーヨン糸などで，糸を構成するフィラメント (単繊維) の数が多いものをいう。たとえばレーヨン糸の場合，120デニールのものでフィラメントは普通 30本程度であるが，マルチ糸では 50～60本で構成されている。同径の同材質の糸と比較しフィラメントの繊度が小さく本数が多いため柔軟で光沢は温和である。
