In addition, medical protection facilities (facilities that provide medical care), vocational facilities (facilities for employment or skill acquisition), and accommodation facilities (facilities for those without homes) have been established as protection facilities.
[Implementing Agency]
The Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare bears ultimate responsibility for this system, but the implementation is carried out by prefectural governors, mayors, and town and village mayors who have welfare offices, who are responsible for protecting residents within their respective jurisdictions (those without a residence address or whose residence is unknown are required to provide protection based on their current location), and in practice, welfare offices are the first to carry out this work.
