However, the success of Alexandre Hardy (c. 1570-c. 1632) as a playwright in the Burgundy Theatre in the early 17th century indicates that the new style of drama, such as tragicomedy and pastoral plays, which had rich plot development and dramatic conflicts, was becoming popular at the time.
