A military commander in the early Muromachi period. The eldest son of Suruga Shugo Norimasa. Commonly known as Hikogoro. Minister of the Ministry of Civil Affairs and Sukenobu no Suke. Deemed incompetent to be the head of the family, he became a monk. As a result, his youngest son, Chiyoakimaru, son of the daughter of Ogigayatsu Uesugi Ujisada, became head of the family, but Shogun Ashikaga Yoshinori, wary of the Kamakura government's actions, strongly supported Noritadada, and in 1433 he inherited the family headship. He returned to secular life and became Shugo of Suruga. In the Eikyō Rebellion, in which Kamakura kubo Ashikaga Mochiuji rebelled against the shogunate, and the subsequent Battle of Yuki, he belonged to the shogunate army, and consistently took a position of monitoring developments in the Kanto region. 室町時代前期の武将。駿河守護範政の長子。通称彦五郎。民部大輔,上総介。家督の器量なしとされ,自ら出家する。これにより扇谷上杉氏定の娘の子である,末子の千代秋丸が家督となるが,鎌倉府の動きを警戒する将軍足利義教は範忠を強く支持,永享5(1433)年家督を相続。還俗し,駿河守護となる。鎌倉公方足利持氏が幕府に反した永享の乱,それに続く結城合戦ではいずれも幕府軍に属し,一貫して関東の動静を監視する立場をとる。康正1(1455)年,鎌倉公方足利成氏(持氏の子)が挙兵した際には,討伐軍の大将として鎌倉に攻め入っている。<参考文献>『満済准后日記』,小和田哲男『駿河今川一族』
