A feudal lord in the early modern period. It is said that they originated in Katagiri, Ina, Shinano Province, and took that as their surname. At the end of the Sengoku period, they moved to Omi during the time of Tameyori, and his great-grandson Naosada became a vassal of the Azai clan. His son Katsumoto served the Toyotomi clan, becoming lord of Ibaraki Castle in Settsu and Tatsuta Castle in Yamato under the Tokugawa clan, and was assigned 40,000 koku of rice after the Summer Siege of Osaka. His son Takatoshi had no stepchildren, so his younger brother Tamemoto inherited, but his fief was reduced to 10,000 koku. The lineage died out during the reign of his grandson Sadanari. Katsumoto's younger brother Sadataka was granted a fief of 16,400 koku in Koizumi, Yamato. Many heads of the family were appointed as Shuzen-no-sho or Iwami-no-kami. After the Meiji Restoration, he became a viscount. [Kato Mariko] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
