…The carapace is divided into the stomach, heart, and gill regions, each of which is further subdivided. The name Cancer is a time-honored scientific name given to crabs by Linnaeus, and originally included all crabs. The word also means cancer, and is said to be derived from the impression that the bumps on the carapace of a crab give of the appearance of cancer on the skin.
