Japanese: 一語文 - いちごぶん（英語表記）one-word sentence; holophrase

A sentence consisting of just one word. In other words, it refers to a word that is grammatically independent of what comes before and after it in actual speech, has semantic completeness, and is considered to function as a sentence. In the case of Japanese, typical examples are interjections such as hai, ie, and maa, nouns used to call out or present, and imperative verbs such as koi. In research into infant language acquisition, the period from about one year after birth that continues for a while when a child utters only one word is sometimes called the one-word sentence period.

ただ一つの単語から成る文。すなわち，実際の発話のなかで，文法的にその前後から独立し，意味的にも完結性をもっていて，1個の文としての機能を果しているとみなされる単語をいう。日本語の場合，ハイ，イイエ，マアなどの感動詞，呼びかけや提示として用いられた名詞，コイなどの命令形の動詞などが典型的な例になる。なお，幼児の言語習得の研究で，生後1年前後からしばらく続く，1つの単語だけを口に出す時期を，一語文の時期ということがある。
