Chemical formula: S ₂ Cl ₂ . Also known as sulfur monochloride (SCl). Molten sulfur is spread thinly on the wall of a flask or the like and cooled at room temperature, and chlorine is introduced and reacted directly at 50-80°C. The product is obtained by distillation at 137°C or higher under atmospheric pressure.
