Tengri

Japanese: tengri
Tengri

For example, the Xiongnu worshipped the heavens, as can be seen in the Records of the Grand Historian and the Book of Han, and there is a similar record of the Tuoba tribe, who founded the Northern Wei Dynasty (Book of Wei). The supreme deity of the Mongolians, Tengri, also means the sky, and even today, many Altai peoples, far north Asian peoples, and Finno-Ugric peoples use the same word to refer to the sky and the supreme deity. It has been said that the one God in the sky in Judaism, Christianity, Islam, etc., and the belief or idea of heaven in China are originally of the same origin, and there are attempts to find in them the characteristics of a nomadic/patriarchal culture in contrast to the agricultural/matriarchal belief in the earth goddess (Ishida Eiichiro).
