This refers to a method of measuring mass. The purpose of measuring mass is to find the correspondence between the mass of the International Prototype Kilogram established by the Metre Convention, so the mass of an object is found by directly comparing a weight that corresponds to this prototype with the object on a balance, or by indirectly comparing the weight with the object using a scale calibrated with the weight. Accurate measurements of mass are performed by the former, and there are the following measurement methods. (1) Simplified method Also called the proportional method. This measurement method assumes that the lengths of both arms of the balance are equal, and after balancing both pans of the balance empty, an object is placed on one pan, and a weight is added or removed from the other pan to balance it, and the mass of the weight placed is taken as the mass of the object.
