a-bai (English spelling) abai

...In eastern Micronesia, we see the simple wooden sculptures common to western Polynesia and eastern Melanesia, while in the west we see Indonesian-style houses and woven basho cloth. In the Palau Islands, each village usually had two or more meeting houses (a-bai). The two types of meeting houses were used by different classes of islanders.
