Food and clothing customers (English spelling: yi-shi-ke; i-shih-k`o)
In China during the Jin and Northern and Southern Dynasties periods, these were a type of slave who was kept by a powerful person and was given this name because they were provided with food and clothing by their master. There was a system in place where government officials could have a certain number of guests according to their status. Guests were exempt from paying taxes and their names were noted in the family register of their master, the government official. Such guests, including guests, first appeared during the Six Dynasties period, and during the Eastern Jin and Southern Dynasties, it became common for common people who were struggling to make ends meet to receive financial assistance from government officials and then work to repay the assistance to the official, becoming guests. For this reason, it is believed that powerful government officials had more guests than the regulations stipulated. The guest girls (women's buqu) of the Tang Dynasty are thought to be their successor.
