Morizo Iizuka

Japanese: 飯塚森蔵 - いいづかもりぞう

1854-1893 A freedom and civil rights activist from the Meiji period.
Born June 2, 1854. Became an elementary school teacher and principal in Gunma prefecture, and later returned to his hometown of Shimoyoshida village, Chichibu district, Musashi (Saitama prefecture). In 1884, he led the Chichibu Incident with Denzo Inoue and others, but failed and disappeared. Died December 23, 1893 in Ehime prefecture. Age 40. There is also a theory that he died in November 1917 at an Ainu kotan in Shiranuka, Hokkaido.

1854－1893　明治時代の自由民権運動家。
嘉永(かえい)7年6月2日生まれ。群馬県で小学校教員,校長となり,のち郷里の武蔵(むさし)秩父郡(埼玉県)下吉田村にかえる。明治17年井上伝蔵らと秩父事件を指導するが失敗,消息をたつ。明治26年12月23日愛媛県で死去。40歳。大正6年11月北海道白糠(しらぬか)のアイヌコタンで死去との説もある。
