Anrakuro - Anrakuro

In Lin'an, the capital of the Southern Song Dynasty, there were more than 5,000 poor people who received grain every three to five days in winter, and in years of famine, the number increased to a huge number due to the influx of people from the surrounding areas. Poor relief facilities were often seized by powerful people as a source of funds, but when enthusiastic local officials and philanthropists emerged, facilities were established to accommodate 300 to 500 people, and were given various names such as Yosai-in and An'yo-in. They were also divided into Anraku-ro for sick people traveling, facilities for abandoned children, and the Jichi-yo-kyoku. Many of the staff at the facilities were children who had not yet taken the monk's ordination.
