Floral diagram - Kashikizu (English)

Japanese: 花式図 - かしきず（英語表記）floral diagram

A diagram showing the arrangement of the leaves that make up a flower. Concentric circles are created, and the leaves on the same circle are arranged on the same circle to show the relative positions of the leaves on each circle. Degenerates are shown with an X, perianths are shown with white or black arcs, sepals with black arcs, petals with white arcs, and stamens and carpels with shapes that mimic their actual cross sections. However, a floral diagram does not show the size of the entire flower.

花を構成している花葉の配列関係を図式的に表わしたもの。同心円をつくり，同じ輪上にある花葉を同一の円上に並べ，各輪上のものの相互の位置関係を示す。退化したものは×印で示し，花被は白または黒弧線，萼片を黒弧線，花弁を白弧線，おしべや心皮はその実際の断面を模した形で表わす。ただし，花全体がどの程度の大きさかは，花式図では示されない。
