α-Pinene - Alpha pinene

...It is a colorless, fluid liquid with a distinctive pine-like odor that is found widely in plant essential oils, and is the main component of turpentine in particular. There are two isomers of pinene, α-pinene and β-pinene, and they exist in nature as a mixture, but generally the α-pinene content is higher (about 60%). α-pinene also has dextrorotatory (= +52°) and levorotatory (= -51°) optical isomers, with American pinene being dextrorotatory and European pinene being levorotatory.
