Patrimonialism (English spelling)

Japanese: 家産制 - かさんせい（英語表記）patrimonialism

This term originates from K. L. von Haller's description of a state in which the monarch treats it as his private patrimonial state (Patrimonialstaat), but it was M. Weber who established the concept of patrimonialism as a distinct social scientific concept, and today the concept is used almost without exception in the sense that Weber defined it. Weber classifies legitimate rule into three pure types: legal, traditional, and charismatic rule, and patrimonialism is a type of rule that belongs to traditional rule.

この語は，K.L.vonハラーが，君主が自分の私的な家産patrimoniumとして取り扱っているような国家を家産国家Patrimonialstaatと呼んだことに由来するが，家産制の概念を明確な社会科学的概念として確立したのはM.ウェーバーであり，この概念は今日ではほとんど例外なくウェーバーの規定した意味で用いられている。　ウェーバーは正当的支配を，合法的，伝統的，カリスマ的支配の三つの純粋型に分類するが，家産制は伝統的支配に属する支配の類型である。
