A type of crude oil (marker crude oil) that was the standard for determining the price of crude oil produced by OPEC countries. The prices of the more than 130 types of crude oil from these countries were determined based on their specific gravity, distance from the market, and sulfur content, and this crude oil (API gravity 34 degrees) produced in Saudi Arabia was the standard. However, at the OPEC General Assembly in 1985, this benchmark crude oil price system was effectively abolished, and crude oil prices were set for each representative oil type.

OPEC諸国が生産する原油価格決定の基準となっていた原油 (マーカー原油) の種類。 130種以上もあるこれらの諸国の原油は，それぞれその比重，市場からの距離，硫黄含有量を勘案して，価格が決定されていたが，サウジアラビア産のこの原油 (API比重 34度) がその基準となっていた。しかし，1985年の OPEC総会で，この基準原油価格制度は事実上廃止され，各代表油種ごとに原油価格を設定することになった。
