...The second major industry after mining is fishing for salmon, crabs, shrimp, etc. Despite abundant forest resources, their development, lumbering, and paper manufacturing are limited to the southern and southeastern coastal areas, with the Alaska Pulp Company, a Japanese company in Sitka, being the only example. There is only a small amount of farmland in the north of Anchorage and on the Kenai Peninsula, where vegetables and fruits are grown.
