Mount Apoi - Mount Apoi

This mountain is located in Samani Town under the jurisdiction of the Hidaka Regional Development Bureau in Hokkaido. It faces the coast at the southern end of the Hidaka Mountains and has an elevation of 810 meters. Although it is not high, it is known as a treasure trove of alpine plants, and its colonies have been designated as a special natural monument by the country. A colony of pumila trees has developed from the mountainside to the summit, and among them there are more than 80 species of alpine plants, among which the Hidakasou and Ezo Kozorina can only be found here. In 1981 (Showa 56), it became part of the Hidaka Mountains Erimo Quasi-National Park, and the entire mountain is a special protection district and a Type 1 special area.
