Mount Kagenobu

Japanese: 景信山 - かげのぶやま

This mountain is located on the border between Hachioji City, Tokyo and Sagamiko Town, Tsukui County, Kanagawa Prefecture, on the eastern edge of the Kanto Mountains. It is 727m above sea level. It is mainly composed of the Kobotoke Formation from the Mesozoic era. It is said that the mountain got its name from the fact that Sakuramachi Chunagon Kagekatsu (also known as Yokochi Shogen Kagenobu), a vassal of the Odawara Hojo clan, built a lookout point on the summit in preparation for the Koshu forces. The summit offers excellent views, and it is located on the ridge known as Ura Takao, which runs from Mount Takao via Kobotoke Pass to Mount Jinba, making it a good hiking course in the Tokyo suburbs. 東京都八王子市と神奈川県津久井郡相模湖町の境界，関東山地東縁に位置する山。標高727m。主として中生代の小仏（こぼとけ）層よりなる。山名は小田原北条氏の家臣桜町中納言景勝(横地将監景信ともいう)が甲州勢に備えて山頂に遠見場を設けたことによると伝える。山頂は眺望にすぐれ，高尾山から小仏峠をへて陣馬山に連なる通称裏高尾の尾根筋にあり，東京近郊の好ハイキングコースとなっている。【徳久球雄】
