《Avadana Shataka》

Japanese: 《アバダーナ・シャタカ》 - あばだーなしゃたか
《Avadana Shataka》

...Examples of praising Buddha include the Shatapanchashatka Stotra (One Hundred and Fifty Praises) and the Barnavarna Stotra (Four Hundred Praises), written by Matricheta, a contemporary of Maning, and these had a strong influence from India to Central Asia. Figurative literature (the Buddhist scriptures use the character metaphor) is a type of literature that uses metaphors, examples, and stories from the past to explain the teachings of Buddha. A group of avadana (metaphorical) works, such as the Avadana Shataka (Collection of One Hundred Sutras) and the Divya Avadana, which deal with the past and present heroic tales of Buddhist disciples and followers, were produced during the first few centuries of the Christian era. The 11th-century Avadana Kalparata by Ksemendra also belongs to this category.
